The definition of “child with a disability” explains how and why children are found to be eligible – or ineligible – for special education and related services under IDEA. Aspects of the Special Education Assessment Psychological Assessment (conducted by a school psychologist) – This evaluation may include cognitive assessments, look at emotional and behavioral concerns, and measures of adaptive functioning.
