ARDs are stressful sessions for parents who are navigating the diagnosis and advocating for their child/children. As crucial advocates for their children’s education, parents can face various emotions—stress, frustration, confusion, and even anger—when discussing their child’s needs, services, and educational plans. This session will offer practical strategies for parents to manage their emotions through self-regulation techniques, ensuring productive ARD meeting. The session will also discuss coping strategies that can be used before, during, and after the meetings.
